OUR STORY

https://red-lizard.jimdofree.com/2019/08/21/qui-sommes-nous/

Every story has its proper start ! Raya, Gérald, Kate, Nassim, Julie, Nadim, Hela, Nesrine and many others found in the idea of saving this rail patrimony a kind of "noble cause" ! We are people from Tunisia, France, Greece, USA and Morocco...

On August 2019, We got a first paper on the web. The first article written by Webdo Tn (link) gave a simple overview of what a passionate small group would do, to save the Red Lizard Train in Tunisia. And since, we dreamed big, we set some goals and now we are taking ACTIONS, to make this Project real !

Yet, three major reasons could explain our common thread.

We took note of flood and rainy season who destroyed the railway line between Metlaoui and Selja. So our dusty train was a bit abandoned and no travels were scheduled during 3 entire years ! Moreover, we realized that Red Lizard Train should offer a "trip back in Time" reminding us the tunisian king's luxury, but few items made in "Art nouveau" style (New Art) was stolen on March 2017 during a maintenance process in Gafsa. Independently of the Egyptian and the Kenyan exemples, there is no Museum in North Africa gathering collections to highlight beauties of railway patrimony ! So our Project, could be the first to highlight this lack !

To come to an end, our group acting as an NGO organization is openly asking both public and private stakeholders (Gov, companies, donaters, ...) to build a Museum for our Train and to conquer the UNESCO Label for the next generations.#SAVEMYTRAIN  #UNESCOPROJECT
