BECAUSE THE "RED LIZARD TRAIN" DESERVES ITS UNESCO LABEL

Red Lizard Train in Tunisia

IT'S ALL ABOUT HASHTAGS FOR HISTORY !

Our "Change.org call" launched on august 2019 to save an old and dusty train in the south of Tunisia, could be explained by the 2 adopted hashtags. The first "#SAVEMYTRAIN" focus on the action to be undertaken immediatly, and the second  shows the ultime target that we aim, by awarding this "Royal train" a UNESCO label ! And that make a real sense.

A RED LIZARD ?

It's a historic Tunisian train, once the property of the Bey of Tunis, but now used for tourists. It runs from Metlaoui to Redeyef and passes through the spectacular Selja Gorges and Canyons, taking approx. 2 hours for the journey. The actual railway was for mining trains carrying phosphates. This train was built by the french company DYLE & BACALAN on 1910. During more than 4 decades, it serves the 3 last sovereigns of Tunisia, before the Monarchy was abolished on 1957.
